Greek Green Beans

Ingredients
  • ½ cup olive oil or canola oil
  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, ends trimmed, cut in half
  • 2 cups fresh tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Add the onions and garlic with ½ teaspoon salt and cook for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the green beans, tomatoes, sugar, ½ teaspoon more salt and some pepper to skillet. Reduce heat to a low simmer and cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
